Les Cockrell: Hickory Creek committee requests more volunteers

A new committee has been formed in Hickory Creek to help residents who are in need as a result of sickness, loss of a family member, fire or other tragedy, and volunteers are needed, said Paul Kenney, a member of the Hickory Creek Town Council. The committee has been a goal of the council for the past two years, Kenney said.

The Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA) presented $134,450 in scholarships and awards to youth who participated in 4-H and FFA beef, swine, sheep and poultry projects Saturday, August 21, prior to the Sale of Champions at the 2010 Iowa State Fair.
